Birthplace of Pro Hockey

In the early 1900’s around 1902-1904 James Dee and Doc Gibson made history by creating the first league to pay hockey players for their services.  The Intertnational Professional Hockey League (IPHL) was looking to create a hockey league with the best players in the world.

Out of that idea was the first ever professional hockey league.  Created in Houghton, Michigan.

These sweatshirts represent some of the teams from that league which gave birth to professional hockey.  From Calumet, Houghton, and The Soo.
